Who writes this site
Everything here is written by me, Eddy Ballesteros. One person, not a content team and not a network of freelancers writing to a brief. Background and credentials are on the About page.
Nothing on this site is published as AI-generated filler. I use AI heavily in my own work and I write about that openly, but articles here are researched, tested, and written by a human who used the tool.
How a tool gets reviewed
- Real use first. The tool goes into an actual project of mine before a word gets written. Usually a real video, a real article, or a real client-style workflow.
- Long enough to hit the limits. Every tool looks good for ten minutes. The interesting parts show up when you push past the happy path, hit the usage caps, or try to integrate it with something else.
- Paid where it matters. If the free tier is not the real product, I pay for the plan people would actually buy.
- Compared, not judged in isolation. "Good" only means something against the alternative. A tool gets measured against the other options for the same job, including free ones and including doing it manually.
- Written with the downsides in. Every tool has them. A review without them is an advertisement.
What earns a recommendation
The bar is simple: would I keep paying for this with my own money after the article goes up? If the answer is no, it does not get recommended, no matter what the affiliate program pays.
For roundups and best-of articles, ranking is based on how well the tool does the specific job the article is about, price relative to what you get, how quickly it pays for itself, and whether it still makes sense once you are past the beginner stage.
What money can and cannot buy
Can: nothing that changes a ranking or a verdict.
Cannot: a placement, a score, a rewrite, a removed criticism, or a review at all.
Companies sometimes offer free accounts or review access. Taking one does not obligate a positive review, and it is disclosed where relevant. I do not accept payment in exchange for coverage, and I do not publish sponsored posts dressed up as editorial.

Keeping articles current
AI tools change faster than almost any other software category. Pricing shifts, features ship, companies get acquired or shut down.
Best-of and comparison articles get reviewed periodically and updated when something material changes. Where an article shows a "last updated" date, that date reflects a real review of the content, not a bumped timestamp to look fresh.
If a tool gets meaningfully worse, its entry gets changed or removed. That has happened and it will happen again.
Corrections
I get things wrong. When that happens I fix it rather than quietly delete it, and significant corrections are noted in the article.
If you spot an error, an out-of-date price, or a claim that does not hold up, email partners@eddyballe.com. Corrections from tool vendors are welcome on the same terms as corrections from anyone else: send evidence, and if you are right, the article changes.

Claims about pricing, features, and limits come from the vendor's own documentation or from my account with them at the time of writing. Where I cite data from someone else, it is linked. Where a number is my own result, it is labelled as mine and comes with the caveats on the earnings disclaimer page.
